We Are Writing the Future

I’ve read this and seen a few other articles on the lack of Black Sci-Fi writers, but the issue is this: how do I (as a black female writer that straddles several genres-including sci-fi) present myself without flashing lights and bells going, “Hey!! I’m a black sci fi writer and I’ve been published in other genres, but I’ve got good stuff here!” And how do you *not* make the selection process uncomfortable for the person reading it. (“Oh crap, we got us a black sci fi writer that’s decent but we want to pass.” “No, wait! She’s black. We gotta do something here…”) I’m just asking a question because I’d really like to know. Thanks for the article, it was really informing, but not anything I already did not know.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
