The New Independent Presidential Candidate Who Could Cost Trump Utah

This would be bad news for Johnson, who has (had) a shot at Utah and maybe New Mexico. If Clinton and Trump maintain rough parity in the electoral college, and Johnson picks up one or two states, he has a -possible- shot in the House if Republicans reject both Trump and Clinton. Strangely, if Johnson were to win in this long-shot scenario, he could not bring Weld along — the 12th amendment requires either Kaine or Pence.
