Here are things you can do for fun without breaking the bank

Growing up in a low-income family I learned how to have fun without spending a lot or spending at all. As the oldest child in my family of 5, we didn’t have much money we would have food on the table and water and electricity, but we weren't able to buy unnecessary things. From that my family and I didn’t go out to eat much or even have enough to go to watch a movie in theaters. Good thing I found other ways to spend my time and have just as much fun as I would if I had extra money in my pocket.

1- Bake

Yes, I love to bake. Am I the best baker, no although I learned how to make a bomb Vanilla cake and the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever have(My secret is Love by the way). Baking ingredients are pretty cheap if you have store discounts and coupons and even if you don’t a whole bag of flour can last you for months so it's very well worth it. Usually, a cake from the store will cost you $20-$30+, but when it's homemade it's way cheaper and a lot more special. What makes baking fun is the process and tasting the end result, it's amazing especially if you have a picnic right after in the park or your front yard.

2- The local park

I have 2 parks near me. A smaller one that's around 0.5 miles away from my house and a bigger one that a bunch more people go to (personally I like the bigger park) I like to go to the park with my little brother and play tag with him or see him swing on the monkey bars, everything is a lot better with my brother by my side. When I'm at the park alone I like to bring a basketball and practice my horrible shoot skills.

3- Go to a museum

I live in the great Seattle area where it's famous for its many museums. For example Seattle Art Museum (SAM), Museum of flight, and many more. I found out while volunteering that many museums offer free entrance at no cost on the 1st Thursday of the month. Take that advantage because these museums are beautiful and sometimes there are free activities for kids at these events.

4- Volunteer

I use to volunteer a lot just because I had a lot of free time and because it's a fun experience. When you Volunteer you do sometimes get goodies like a free t-shirt so that's a plus. I like to volunteer at places that seem to fit my interest and skills, for example, I love kids and I use to volunteer at the library to help young kids with their homework. It was a great experience and I was very proud of myself for doing that, it was truly a reward.

5- Play video games

I've been really getting into video games on my phone ofc. My current top favorites are 1. Mario Kart 2. Fortnite 3.SpongeBob: Krusty cook-off these apps are free for download and will get you addicted.

6- Going swimming

I live close to a community center and inside there is a huge swimming pool. Every week they let people just hope in for a fun swim for a low prince I believe at most it's $5 and you can stay there for hours. I learned how to swim at a very young age and swimming is a very fun and cheap activity. To spend even less you can go to a lake and take a swim for free. Warning it is a little cold, but perfect for a hot day in the summertime.

And there are all of my fun cheap or free activities that I have done through my childhood and now.
