I got accepted into the Medium Partnership Program in February and this is my first weeks earnings on the platform.
Here is what I earned my first week per article.
My #1 Earning Article
This article did the best! It got the most views and the highest lifetime member reading time.
My #2 Earning Article
This one’s my #2 article and it got about half as many Views as my #1 article yet it still made almost the same amount of Earnings because the Lifetime Member Reading time was almost the same.
Views don’t matter as much as read time.
My #3 Earning Article
Wait… so more Views, and more Avg. Reading Time than my #2 article — so then why did it make less Earnings?
Because the Lifetime Member Reading Time was lower.

Referrals is the residual income part of Medium. Get a referral once and get paid month after month for it.
Reads are nice, but it’s just short term earnings. Someone reads your article, and you get paid once for that read.
