The PERFECT Family?

Family Day Out

We were on a walk yesterday around the local reservoir. When Colin (my Fiancé) said something to me that struck a chord..

He said “Do you think there really are perfect families out there, that go for walks like this every Sunday then go home for a Sunday roast?” He said this as we walked past a another family enjoying a family walk.

Well you only have to look on Facebook to see all these perfect families living there perfect lives, having an awesome time. Look at my profile it’s full of pictures of us doing family selfies, eating healthy food, living the dream..

What you don’t see is behind the scenes, take yesterday as an example. Before we go out for our walk. We have a slight argument about who should be going to Tesco, coz Col is mowing the lawn and is now really hungry and I forgot to get some food in for Sunday..

Harvey is refusing to come on the walk.. He doesn’t want to walk he says, eating a packet of Haribos (I don’t know where from). I didn’t buy any this week. These sweets just seem to magically appear from school birthday celebrations, treats for attendance, the local church group as rewards for this and that, Nan because well that’s what nan’s do.. SERIOUSLY ARRGHH!

A friend of mine once said to me. “I’ve just had a massive row with my fella. then I see your photos on Facebook of your perfect family, Why can’t we be like that?” I respond with “No No No were not perfect…Facebook just shows the highlights of my day, the best bits.”

Just like when you know someone is coming round to your house to visit, you have a quick tidy up. That is what is going on on social media now. We have a tidy up of our trips out, birthday parties, family get togethers. Showing the best bits, well who wouldn’t.

I want you to know that just like all the other families on Facebook we are not perfect. Then again it all depends on your definition of PERFECT. I have learnt through my own coaching this year that is about being enough. Telling yourself you are enough and I believe my family is enough.

Yes we have arguments
Yes my kids like to eat McDonalds
 Yes I love Jaffa Cakes
Yes my house is a mess most days
Yes I live with and manage my anxiety
Yes I am happy and living a balanced life

Thats what this months challenge is. I want you to think of how you can a live a more balanced life with your food choices. I’m not saying to cut out McDonalds or your favourite take away altogether. What I am saying is be balanced with your choices. Don’t have one every day have one now and again. Last week I showed you posts of my kids packed Lunches on here https://www.facebook.com/groups/180131175739608/
If your kids have a packed lunch to head over to have a look at what I put in them and see if you can try any food swaps.
