What Only True Entrepreneurs Will Understand
Entrepreneurs are people who want to bring something into the world that they wish existed, and create something out of nothing.

It’s not all roses. But, it’s worth it.
Being an entrepreneur is an emotional roller coaster ride, and is the most intense personal growth inducing adventures you will ever embark upon.
My first real solo startup began back in 2004 when I started my own organic, all natural mama and baby care, and aromatherapy product line. At that time, natural baby products were not so easy to find, and the ones I did find were really expensive, and didn’t seem to work. So, I asked myself the question every real entrepreneur asks themselves, over and over again: “how can I fill the gap and create my own product”?
So, I got to work and researched healing herbs that were safe and healing to babies skin, and started making concoctions on my kitchen stove until the formula was perfected.
And then, I started giving out small jars of my Cheeky Baby diaper balm to the Moms I knew, and they started raving about how amazing the product was, encouraging me to start a business. And, so that is exactly what I did.
I absolutely loved the creative process of researching herbs to use in my infusions, and playing around with different essential oil blends, naming the products, and writing the copy for each product. My best seller, “Cheeky Baby” diaper salve, worked like magic to prevent and cure diaper rash. Moms came forward telling me how the product healed many different skin conditions, and started buying it by the handfuls!
I worked in my kitchen around my girls as they napped, and made a little side business doing something I loved, and was passionate about. Chemical free products for Moms and their babes.
Fast forward to when my youngest was out of diapers, and I had to look at having my products manufactured off site in order to get them in to stores, and to take my little side hustle to the next level.
I could have jumped through all the required hoops to get there, but I decided it was something that served a purpose while my girls were babies, and it was time to move on.
This was the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur. And I truly loved it, for the most part. I’m not sure I even made much of a profit, but it gave me a sense of purpose, and was a creative outlet for me.
In between this and what I do now, I became a certified fitness leader, and weight trainer, and worked in the fitness field for a few years. I tried out a few MLM companies, and especially loved working with the company doTerra selling essential oils, and also opened up, and ran a wellness center. My experience is broad and I definitely learned a lot about what I loved, and didn’t love along the way.
Fast forward to when my girls were both in school, I decided it was time for me to go back to school and pursue my soul calling to become a counsellor, and began this new journey of helping clients on a deeper level.
And so it began, I opened the doors to my counselling practice over 6 years ago, and haven’t looked back since.
While what I do has evolved and shifted, the core of my work is in the field of holistic, mind-body life transformation.
Today, I work virtually with clients all over the world as far as Africa and the UK, create online self paced programs, and write, as well as have a weekly podcast all about life, health, relationship and business transformation from the inside out.
I offer business support for those who want deeper therapeutic mindset, and emotional support to help them transcend to the next level, so they can grow themselves in order to grow their business.
You can check out this Healthy Hustle Business Addition episode: The Truth About Working for Yourself where I share some behind the scenes real talk about the ups and downs of choosing this path.
I also have a Facebook group called Women Rising for those who want to be a part of the inside out transformation movement.
There is so much that is unbelievably rewarding about choosing this path of being your own CEO, and I can’t imagine doing anything else for a very long time, if ever.
It’s a lot of work, it’s not the safe route, and it doesn’t come without risks and heaps of courage and determination, but it allows me total freedom in my family, in my creative process, to work when and how I want to work, and make a much higher income.
