Fascinating article. As a mental health nurse myself who works an adult acute psychiatric ward I often find myself falling in between the medical approach and the anti-psychiatry approach. I hand out meds, that some of them, no one knows how they work. I send patients for electroconvulsive therapy, which I always avoid attending. But Ive seen it work. Then the topic gets even muddier with some patients ‘pretending’ to be ill. You wrote a fascinating article, I have a fascinating job. Who knows where we are going with this current approach?
