THE BENEFITS OF ADOPTING A GREAT POSTURE: 50 REASONS WHY

Poor posture often stems from modern-day habits like working in front of a computer, slouching on a couch while watching TV, or looking down at a smartphone.

It took me a good six months to build a good posture. Every day, little by little, currently at a great posture. I wanted to look more confident and sexy and portray a neat, energetic aura. I jotted down reasons below why being mindful about your posture will exude you into a much better version of yourself. Slouching is not attractive!

ADOPTING A GOOD POSTURE:

  1. Poor posture means two things: Lack of self-esteem and lack of interest.
  2. The torso offers important body language examples: An upright posture and open torso (rather than being shielded by your arms or hands) show confidence, assertiveness, and attention.
  3. Based on psychology, slouching during a conversation indicates a lack of interest in the other person and their words or that you don’t care how they think about you.
  4. Poor posture habits may have become ingrained over time, and now it’s typically a behavioral norm.
  5. Slouching makes you look unattractive and unapproachable.
  6. Slouching provides feelings of relief due to the relaxation of the tired muscles: practice mindfulness and physical exercise.
  7. Slumping around like a primate is long gone. We left the jungle, didn't we?
  8. Rounded shoulders, a slouching spine, and a protruding head may affect long-term mobility and musculoskeletal issues.
  9. An expanded posture might get you that second date.
  10. Back pain, spinal dysfunction, joint degeneration, and a potbelly. Enough said.
  11. The essence of mediocrity doesn't get rewarded. Stand tall.
  12. Your body is physically conforming to a shape dictated by the interaction of environmental forces and backstop constraints.
  13. A poor posture can burn a bridge. Extreme, I know.
  14. To slouch is to physically trust that your body will sink into the couch or floor and reach a new sagging equilibrium. You decided to sag.
  15. Slouching is a talent. Just below conscious awareness.
  16. Gain the control to let go of control.
  17. The corpse pose needs to breathe in and out. Mindful meditation is the key.
  18. In fields such as military strategy, posture is a term of art that applies to assertiveness and organization.
  19. Poor posture may cause contemplation in decision-making.
  20. Ignorance is uncontrolled, and you might not be aware of unconscious sagging in your behavior.
  21. “I don’t know what to do with my hands.” Control authority and relax your arms and hands aligned with your body.
  22. Plank.
  23. Slouching in your chair places extra stress on your spine and lumbar discs.
  24. Putting your hands in your pockets, you tend to hunch your shoulders forward to make room for your arms. This can cause your upper back and shoulders to round forward, leading to poor posture.
  25. Think about two pink giraffes waltzing.
  26. People slouch to invest less of themselves in whatever is going on, so they are more likely to survive long enough to invest more of themselves in whatever happens next.
  27. Tending to slouch teaches you where to put your trust and where not to.
  28. Parents, aunts & uncles, grandparents, they are nagging for a reason.
  29. Conscious effort is not embarrassing. It might feel all fake at first, but it doesn't.
  30. There is no obligation to better yourself or be useful or interesting to the world, even to yourself.
  31. You might live in it, but there is no equity left.
  32. Motivation for good posture is a skill.
  33. Don’t take the people who care about your physical form for granted.
  34. Effort equals confidence.
  35. Invest in a new chair.
  36. Good posture improves breathing by increasing lung capacity. When you sit or stand up straight, you’re allowing your lungs to expand.
  37. Your digestive system doesn’t want to be compressed. Set your organs free.
  38. Good posture makes you look taller, slimmer, and appealing to the opposite sex.
  39. Poor posture can result in fatigue and lack of energy.
  40. Stay educated. Click TED-Ed.
  41. Redesign your environment.
  42. It’s not enough to just have “good posture.” Your joints and muscles are generally important for your overall health.
  43. Good balance shows strength in the spine and brain.
  44. Fun fact: Poor posture increases the risk of falling. You’re tripping because you’re leaning forward.
  45. You may find it difficult to hold a good posture for long periods as your postural muscles may have become weakened and tire quickly. Practice practice.
  46. There is a surprising connection between posture and sex. Blood flow is important.
  47. Slouching doesn't have to be your body’s default.
  48. Awareness and practice are gold.
  49. Focus on aligning your spine by shaking up your habitual movement patterns.
  50. There’s no “perfect” posture, just as there are no perfect bodies. Good posture refers to having a neutral spine, where your muscle groups, joints, and ligaments are aligned in a way that reduces stress on them.
