One Day Moderator
Hello, I am Leediyal from TamilNadu. I am doing Front End Web Developer Nanodegree course at Udacity by Google’s Re-skilling India Scholarship Program.
At first I want to thank Udacity India and Google India for giving this life changing opportunity for many coders like me. Thank you Akshit Jain for always being with us and being an inspiration to all of us. You are a hardworking mentor who supports every steps of us. You are the root of our scholars community.
In this program, we have an awesome Slack community named #GoogleUdacityIndiaScholars where all the developers keeps supporting and encouraging each other. I am really proud to be a part of this community. Every effort made here in this community will get an honor.
In our community we have lots of channels and one of the channel here is wmn_who_code which is especially formed for woman developers by Akshit Jain. There are one moderator for each channel. Moderator is an in-charge of every single activity and lot of initiatives going on there. The latest activity in our woman coders channel is called “One day Moderator”.
What is One Day Moderator?
It is the first question comes to mind when we read it. Actually it’s an initiative where a single girl with an awesome idea can be a moderator for a single day. Sounds great, right? It gave some leadership experiences to many of us. I decided to take this challenge and became an One Day Moderator. Thank you Aditi Soni for this great opportunity.

What I did as an One Day Moderator?
It’s all started on 1st September afternoon at 12.30 PM and I named my activity as “Role Model (Idol) Challenge”.
Role Model — Someone whose behavior is considered to be a good example for other people to copy
Everyone has their own taste when choosing their Role Model (Idol). They may be your parents, siblings, teachers, friends or any other persons. But all of us admire, love and respect them. Some of us even following their way to becoming more perfect, successful and happier.

After my first post, I suddenly got my peers and my mentor’s support. It’s a great thing we have in our community.

At first, I shared my Role Model (Idol)’s story and my Idol is my mother. After that, everyone started to share their Idol’s story. I got many stories in that thread. Many friends are participated and shared their experiences to support me. It’s really a long posts and can’t able to post everything. So I made a video for all of that posts. Here’s the link for the video:
Every story is unique and awesome here. Some stories are great and some are touching. But all the stories gave us an inspiration and motivation.
On next day afternoon, my activities time is ended. But even after deadline, some of my peers contacted me and shared their stories too. I was happy when all of my peers liked my activity and encouraged me with their lovely words. It really gave me more inspiration and I have no words to express my happiness.

Thank you for your participations my dear friends mareeswari lakshmi, Geetanjali, thirumalaidevi ramya, Reshu Agarwal, Arshi Saleh, Divya Thakur, Sofia Nayak, Yashika Kalra, Vidhi Patel, Himani Sharma, Kavya Halani, Lakshmi Angadi, Sugapriya S, Saloni Gupta, Muskan Gupta and Archana Kumari. Love you all. Happy to have you all by my side.
Now it’s time to announce the winner for this activity. You all made it difficult for me because of your great writing skills. It’s really hard to select one story among many best stories, but I have to stick to the rules.
Hello Sofia Nayak, Congratulations. Your story is selected for this challenge. And your Idol’s story is really awesome and meets all the rules. I know you are a hard working and beautiful mother. You are an inspiration to many married women and mothers too. It’s really hard to achieve your dream after long years. But you made it and I am happy to have a friend like you.

Everyone from this community is a winner. I appreciate every wonder woman’s effort. All of us came here after crossing many hard barriers and still working to reach our dreams. I respect everyone of them. kudos to everyone here.
Congratulations again Sofia Nayak. This is a surprise gift for you.

P.S. - I got this from Akshit when we attended Udacity Chennai Meetup. All students from there decided to do some activity in slack channels and gave this as a reward for winner. I wanted to do that activity in this special woman’s channel. Now I made it and had lots of fun too. Thank you Akshit Jain and my dear coder girls.
Honestly, being a moderator is not an easy thing. Even though I am a moderator for just one day, It took more than four days to organize everything for this challenge. But we have many hardworking moderators in our community and I respect everyone of them. Thank you to all the moderators.
I am glad to be here in this community. Because I have lot of best moments and lot of friends even though I don’t saw them before. But we are friends now and having bond with each other.
The way they inspiring me is the reason why I am doing this type of activity. They gave their full support throughout this activity. And this is what I got from my friends after my moderator job done.

Didn’t I say, “Every effort made here in this community will get an honor”. It’s the best thing we had here. I think I took lot of your time. So Let’s end now.
Now a big thanks to you who patiently read this story. It’s a long article but very meaningful and memorable to me. Thank you to all.
