75% of consumers judge a company’s credibility by its site design

Sorry, but you can’t get away from it at this point. Businesses must invest in design that looks good enough and — more importantly — creates an emotional connection with their audience. 💻👩‍💻

Visitors who rate a website’s aesthetics as poor are more likely to perceive it as less trustworthy, which can negatively impact their emotional connection with the brand.

And, like it or not, purchase decisions are largely emotional.

How much are you spending on building backend functionality to add bullets to your feature list? Now then… how much are you spending to present all that tech in a way that people will understand and, ideally, vibe with?

Considering the impact of the design, I should hope it’s at least an even split. But I imagine your company is spending 10x more on dev than design. Maybe 100x.

Such a pity! Such a missed opportunity!

People won’t tell their friends to use the tool based on its features. But they will if the tool delights them. If it connects with them. If it feels like it gives a shit about them.

Three high-level elements to consider when designing a website that resonates emotionally:

  1. Cohesive visual identity: A consistent color scheme, typography, and imagery create a harmonious look and feel, connoting stability, intentionality, and care. 🎨
  2. Intuitive navigation: A user-friendly layout allows visitors to easily find the information they need, making them feel in control and satisfied with their experience. 🧭
  3. Engaging content: Compelling copy, interactive elements, and storytelling can draw visitors in, connecting them to your brand’s message and values. 📝

We all deserve to interact with a world that cares about our experience.
