Pay zero attention to what competitors are doing

Stop giving so much of a shit and focus on your own strategy.

So many people (me included in the past) have been guilty of paying way too much attention to what other people or competitors are doing. Sure, be aware and keep your finger on the pulse but stop letting it cripple you.

You are good enough, execute on your strategy and be so focused on it that you don’t have the time to think about anyone else. You have no control over what your competitors are doing so why waste any time thinking about it? If you are going out and spending your time trying to crush your competitors you are not focused on the right thing, you should be executing, driving your business forward — thats how you win.

Think about a time when you have been in a meeting or a pitch situation and you have spoken about your competitors, why? Flip that on its head, if you stay focused on what you are trying to do and become so obsessed with the game you will not only forget to pay attention to your competitors but, there is a good chance that your competitors will start talking about what you are doing.

There is another benefit to adjusting your mindset and stopping thinking about other people or competitors, time. You are busy right? Why waste what is almost certainly your most precious resource, time.

There are so many things that can stop you doing, don’t let other people be one of them. Keep doing what it is you set out to do and if you are good enough you will end up in a position where you are the one being talked about.
