Please don’t leave tech. Just move on to somewhere else. This abhorrent kind of behavior only seems to empower frat boys in groups. I have been the only naysayer in the room, and it is a lonely place to be. It is difficult to do in a meeting room or a bar.
I have defended a female programmer co-worker, who was threatened by her manager but who was tied to her job by her visa, so it was [even more] difficult for her to complain. I saw the all-male manager group deny the harassment had happened. I saw their retaliation in my performance review. My male peers later admitted I had been in the right but no-one else stood out of line. I work better as a contractor. I can’t do that line-toeing thing…
