I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Death Eater Community

Voldemort has come further than any other dark wizard in his attempt to build an authoritarian dystopia. He is facing obstacles unlike any faced in modern history, including the world’s most renowned wizard hellbent on his downfall, and a teenage boy who will not die.
But it’s not just these obstacles that Voldemort must contend with. Death Eaters inside his very own circle are working diligently from within to thwart his agenda and his worst dark magic. I know, because I am one of them.
To be clear, our resistance is not the same as Dumbledore’s fan club in the Order of the Phoenix. We want Voldemort to succeed and think that many of his changes (such as denying all muggle-borns the right to magic) have already made the wizarding world safer and more prosperous.
We believe that our first duty is to our moral convictions, but Voldemort continues to act in a manner detrimental to our goals of pureblood supremacy. This is why many of us Death Eaters have vowed to do what we can to establish systems to detain those who cannot provide proper documentation of their pureblood status or otherwise prove they did not acquire magic by illegal means.
The root of the problem is Voldemort’s inability to commit to his principles and the ideals of our organization. Voldemort claims to be focused on the subjugation of all muggle-borns, but is easily distracted by his petty preoccupation with the “Boy Who Lived.” He is just one boy. We believe that our leader should be looking at the bigger picture: establishing authoritarian rule over the wizarding world.
Don’t get me wrong. There are some bright spots amidst the negative coverage in the failing Daily Prophet. The Muggle-Born Registration Committee and long overdue educational reforms at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have met with great success. We have accomplished these wins despite Voldemort’s ineffective leadership style and obsession with murdering a teenage boy.
To be frank, many of us Death Eaters privately admit our utter disbelief at Voldemort’s erratic and vindictive decision-making. One minute you’re his most trusted henchman, the next you’re cutting off your own hand so he can reanimate his body with the blood of his mortal enemy, a young boy.
Voldemort’s erratic behavior would be more concerning if it weren’t for the dedicated Death Eaters like myself committed to the principles of pureblood supremacy and the use of torture in interrogations of underage wizard agitators.
The bigger concern is not what Voldemort has done, but what we have allowed him to do. We have sunk to his level and let our mission to oppress all muggles, muggle-borns, and other inferior magical creatures get derailed by rantings about the size of his wand hand and persecution by talented witches (or “witch hunts”).
We, a dedicated group of Death Eaters, are doing what we can to put our principles first. We regret the role we played in Voldemort’s rise to power, but not our tireless and steadfast commitment to the Death Eater ideals of domination and torture. We are quietly working within the system to accomplish our goals to create an oppressive culture of fear despite Voldemort’s maniacal self-interest.
The real difference will be made, however, by everyday pureblood wizards who do their part by calling Magical Law Enforcement every time they see a muggle-born holding a wand. We all have a role to play here. We need to rise above politics, reach across the aisle, and resolve to shed our labels in favor of a single one: Wizards.
