What is Destiny?

Before I begin this blog, I would want to pose a question. Do you genuinely feel happy for others? That friend of yours who has just gotten a promotion only a few months after he/she has been employed and you are still searching for a job? That relative of yours who has established a good business and it continues to thrive by the day?

I would like to use the analogy of the crabs placed in a can. They will grab onto the one trying to get its freedom. It is a reflection of our human nature which I would like to refer to as toxic individualism. We have to get the understanding that you can not compare yourself to another. Learn to appreciate everything in life whether good or bad and stay in your lane. Hardships are viewed by pessimists as obstacles and by the optimists as opportunities for growth and that's what really differentiates us.

Another question to ponder is if God knows our destiny and fate, do we have free choice? First, we need to understand the meaning of destiny and fate. By definition, destiny is determined by choices and actions taken by an individual whereas fate is something that is predetermined by an outside force.

God knows our destiny but he doesn't choose it. Humans are born of freewill and make choices as they so wish. We are not controlled like puppets on a string. Rather, it is our day-to-day choices that lead to a certain path. From a Christian perspective, God does not force us to do His will but it's our own convictions or in other words our faith that will lead one to accept Him. Nevertheless, one can argue that fate is in the hands of God while destiny is as a result of choice. I hope you found this blog interesting, see you next time
