- What is the Temporary Graduate Replacement Stream visa?
Subclass 485 visa holders, affected by the Australian travel restrictions may now apply for the COVID 19- Temporary Graduate Replacement stream visa. The visa allows individuals who could not stay in Australia for the complete eligibility period of their previous temporary graduate visa, to stay in Australia for the same length as their original visa.
2. How does the Temporary Graduate Visa extension/ enlivening work?
The Temporary graduate visa extension or enlivening will allow SC 485 visa holders to enter/ remain in Australia until 30 September 2022. Subsequently the visa holders may apply for the Temporary Graduate Replacement visa, which is scheduled to come in to effect in July 2022. Eligible visa holders should have been notified directly by the Department on 18th February 2022 when the said measure came into effect.

Set out below are the key conditions applicable to the grant of a SC 485 visa extension or an enlivening;

Based on the above, the following fundamental differences between a visa extension and a visa enliven are observed;
An enlivening is granted;
o For a Temporary Graduate Visa which has already expired (between the period of 01.02.2020- 14.12.2021)
o For a holder whose visa was not cancelled
o For a holder who has not been granted a further substantive visa (no specific date is given)
An extension is granted;
o For a Temporary Graduate Visa held on 15.12.2021, which is yet to expire (before 30.09.2022)
o For a visa which has not been cancelled since 15.12.2021.
o For a holder who has not been granted a further substantive visa since 15.12.2021
5. What are the applicable charges?
Those applying for the Replacement Temporary graduate visa are required to pay the full visa application charge of AUD 1,680.
