Several months ago, my wife and I purchased new laptops to replace our seven-year-old models. Mine refused to charge anymore, and hers was suffering from amnesia (technically a bad memory card socket). All was going well with the new beasties until one day someone tripped over my power cord and the laptop plummeted to the floor.
