I will agree with your point of view. Having a more complete view into the business and the overall target the company you are working for is trying to achieve is really important and can affect your work. I believe this also applies to developers other than designers. I can agree that for designers the impact may be bigger.

For different types of companies though, medium to large sized ones + remote working teams, sharing the vision, the actual targets and the business is what most companies have to take care of. In order to achieve that, transparency is a mandatory value every team/company has to share. Not all employees share the same way of thinking, so for larger teams this is something that companies have to integrate into their processes and way of thinking.
