The answer to the headline of this piece seems oblivious, but it is not.

Ordinarily, there is no basis for comparing life with a telephone, but the way many of us go about using telephone makes this question imperative.

Why do people answer phone calls while driving? It doesn’t matter if you have an hand’s free device.

Answering and listening to a phone call can distract attention while driving.

Don’t tell me you have mastered the act. There have been many near misses and accidents. Yours may well be the next and it could be very tragic. God forbid? You should forbid first.

Why do people read or send text messages while driving? Just one moment of taking your focus off the road may result in a tragic accident you don’t expect.

If the call or message is as urgent as we claim they are, we have the option of parking, but most times we don’t.

We expect Policemen and traffic officials to tell us what we doing is dangerous, but it’s our lives and not theirs that is at risk.

Unfortunately our indiscretion is also a danger for other road users.

Why do we walk on major roads and even highways texting and answering calls without paying attention?

I’m probably as guilty as you are, but I have resolved to amend my ways and hope you will too.

Your life is definitely more valuable than your phone, no matter how expensive it is, but as long as you use it when you should not, you answer to the headline of this piece is My Phone not My Life!
