This whole Google memo thing has really driven home something that, as a career coach, I’ve been observing almost every day.

Women, we just don’t realize how valuable we really are.

Why in the world are we even giving one ounce of attention to a memo written about women by a tech-savvy CHILD whose mother probably still does his laundry and who, quite possibly, hasn’t even dated a woman, ever.

Sure, the kid has a few interesting thoughts. He has an interesting analysis about the intrinsic and harmonizing qualities that Conservatives & Liberals bring to the workplace. I like his suggestion that Google create more part-time positions — something that many of our clients want, women and men both — but come on. Who the hell is he to get us all in a stir about the role of women in tech, or any place else?

He seriously said that women don’t handle stress as well as men. EVERYONE over the age of 30 knows that this is ridiculous, and in fact, the opposite. Maybe this kid can write code, but clearly he knows nothing about women.

Which takes me back to my original point, ladies.

We are actually running the world, and always have. They need us way more than we need them, on every level. (Don’t get me wrong, men — you’re extremely strong, super-smart, funny and handsome. We appreciate you very much.)

Google? They should be doing everything they can think of to get more women involved, not because it’s politically or even morally correct, but because they will fall into irrelevance without us. They’ll be left with clueless young men like James Damore piloting their ship blindly into the rocks.

Women, let’s not let some nerdy engineering kid distract us. Let’s demote him to whatever grunt work he can do for us and move on.

We’ve got too much work to do to deal with him.

We have a world to run.
