The thing I find in people’s minds when discussing “Russia-gate” and “white supremacy” (incl. that of Trump) and “fascism”, is that most of my opponents simply cannot accept any authority on an issue, no matter how profound and competent this authority is — if this authority is not already well-accepted and promoted by MSM. Why, they answered to Robert Parry by quoting Wikipedia, to Patrick Henningsen by quoting BuzzFeed, and I am sure they will oppose Caitlin by quoting Washington Post! What is wrong with such mentality, is that it only accepts what is already accepted. Similar to customer reviews and to brand names. Which is not “political”, because it continues in culture and education and medicine as well. In times, where there is Fox News, one feels truly open-minded, rejecting Fox News and worshiping NY Times and Mother Jones. Like not shopping at the Walmart, going to Whole Foods instead… Therefore, propaganda, I think, simply utilizes that human condition. And pretends that there is “bad” mainstream media and “good” mainstream media. Which gives people an illusion of choice and makes it impossible to insert independent non-corporate journalism (such as Caitlin) between Scylla and Charibdis of imperialist propaganda.
