Spring trip to amazingly beautiful Bamberg, Germany

Bamberg — the pearl of Bavaria — is a city perfectly preserved since the Middle Ages, for which it is protected by UNESCO. A town of original half-timbered houses, with 10 breweries per 70,000 inhabitants, and the famous Schlenkerla brewery has been serving cold beer from an oak barrel since 1533!

Here you can explore the drawings and paintings on the buildings endlessly, marvel at the intricate architectural forms, and imagine what it would be like to live in the attic of such an amazing, timeless building. The original fachwerk is fascinating with its cracked wooden curves, and the shutters with their peeling paint make the whole construction unimaginably lighter and more graceful.

What an important role in the creation and perception of the city’s architecture is played by the river with its rushing waters and swift current. Barges, boats, numerous bridges, houses and restaurants by the water, a pedestrian promenade… it is impossible to imagine this city without all this.

The roofs, covered with tiles like fish scales, the moldings on the houses with carved balconies… all this is as if it was not made by builders, but painted by a skillful artist. And the blossoming trees, plants climbing the walls and birds singing loudly complete the whole picture in the best way.

After enjoying the views and beauties, we went to try the most famous local beer — Rauchbier (smoked beer). It contains malt that is smoked on beech or oak sawdust. We didn’t even expect it to be such a delicious beer, rauchbier 👏👍. This smoked beer is, in addition, an important ingredient in local sauces and marinades.

Food in Germany is simple, hearty, and clear. Pure flavors are more important here than beautiful slices, and simplicity, naturalness, and a good portion are better than a dozen exotic ingredients and an unusual presentation.

Bamberg is a very beautiful, romantic Bavarian city, which is definitely worth a visit for all lovers of pleasant travels.
