I listen to about 10 hours of content every week (driving in LA) and I tried to figure out how to highlight, make notes not just when you deal with audio, but also — when you got your hands busy. The best three solutions I came up so far:

  1. Use google search and then check https://myactivity.google.com (probably will only work on Android phones, also will pause playback, but I play books/podcasts from another device)
  2. Write down location (time for audio) and get back to it later. I typically note a Chapter for audio-book and read it in Kindle again, getting back to podcast location rarely worked for me…
  3. Use Telegram voice message to yourself (Telegram has ton of hidden productivity features) — it basically works as an audio-recorder with time-stamps, tags and comments — most of things you need. I have rather good audio controls in my car to rewind/pause/play and it makes that last solution most productive for me

Happy to work with someone on creating a better solution for both audio and text
