I do agree that vim is nice, fast and lightweight. But coincidentally, this morning I was applauding VS Code on how fast and lightweight it has become and colour me naive, I am beginning to use it as a full IDE. I was able to debug .NET code complete with hitting breakpoints, viewing a snapshot of the variables at debug, stack trace ..etc etc somewhat similar to the love available from the Visual Studio IDE I’ve become accustomed to.
Now, throw all that away and back to normal tasks. This morning I also downloaded a 65MB log file from a server with 1,517,617 lines and I counted 5 seconds before it opened (adjust for any lag my brain has in counting seconds accurately). Your post made me try it and, although I normally search through log files using Sublime, I was not disappointed by the loading times of that 65MB file.
I wonder, is it because I am on Windows 10 that I’m observing such a disparity to your experience?
