Sometimes I think we Americans:

Don’t know how to pause and think.

Don’t know how to think critically.

Don’t know how to consider context.

Don’t know how to consider history.

Don’t know how to forgive.

Don’t know how to admit a mistake.

Don’t know how to dialogue.

Don’t know how to listen.

Don’t know that we react.

Don’t know that we do make mistakes.

Don’t know when we are manipulated.

Don’t know how to avoid reacting violently.

Don’t know about science.

Don’t admit we despise other people.

Don’t know that we are ignorant about other people and places.

Don’t really get that there has never been a time when there were more people on the planet or in our country.

Don’t stop competing.

Don’t admit we can never know everything.

Don’t take the time to listen…
