please…no… any attempt to ‘level’ the income variation (which is what all re-distributive taxes do) lessens productivity, innovation, motivation, and would greatly hamper economic growth as compared to otherwise. We are humans, driven and built to attempt to survive against nature in a world of scarce resources which we need to balance our desires precariously against each other (against other desires) — to do this efficiently and effectively, we need the market. Although your proposal sounds nice, it strikes against the root of our humanity while attempting to address the problem of poverty. It is the wrong direction to proceed and the result will be much more suffering than otherwise.
