How to update Apple ID settings
It is important to maintain an Apple ID as it serves as the key to the Apple kingdom. Connect an iPhone to other devices and store data in iCloud.

Apple makes it easy for owners of an iPhone, Mac, or other Apple devices to sign in and update settings related to their Apple ID. This information is like the key to the kingdom, so it is very important to keep track of this Apple login and update it whenever the details (such as the user’s email address) change.

An Apple ID is mainly needed to access iCloud, Apple’s online storage for iPhone backups, app data, shared photos, files, and more. It’s also a critical component of Apple’s continuity features like Hand-Off. This allows users to continue working on a project or browsing a website with a tap or click when switching from an iPhone to an iPad to a Mac. Of course, an Apple ID is also required when setting up a new Apple device. .

What to do when the iPhone says “Update Apple ID settings”?
Here’s what you need to do: Open Settings and click “Update Apple ID Settings.” Then, press “Continue” on the next page. After that, enter your Apple ID password when the pop-up window appears.

In most cases, the “Update Apple ID Settings” notification should disappear once you enter your Apple ID credentials correctly. However, sometimes it may not go away after doing so. In this case, keep reading to discover possible solutions.

Why does iPhone keep saying “Update Apple ID settings”?
Possible reasons behind the problem may include:

Changes or modifications to your Apple ID password or credentials.
Password changes on another iOS device connected to Apple ID.
Incomplete or outdated Apple ID information.
Update your iPhone’s iOS to a newer version.
Add fingerprints for Touch ID or a new face for Face ID.
Sometimes, it can also happen due to a software bug or glitch.

Enter Apple ID password
In some cases, the Apple ID settings update notification tends to disappear when you enter your current Apple ID password. Since this trick has worked for me on a few occasions, I recommend that you try it first before moving on to the next tips.

Tap the Update Apple ID notification. Then click Continue. After that, enter your Apple ID password and exit the settings menu. If the notification goes away, it is highly likely that you have successfully fixed the red Apple ID update notification.

CHECK IF YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT APPLE ID
If you have multiple Apple IDs, you’ll need to double-verify the Apple ID you’re using on your phone. There is a chance that you cannot verify your Apple ID settings just because you are entering the wrong password.

Open the Settings app and tap on your name at the top. You’ll find the Apple ID you’re currently using at the top.

Sign out of Apple ID and sign back in
Another reliable solution that I would recommend you to try is to sign out of Apple ID and sign back in. A new login may help fix the problem.

When you sign out of iCloud, you have the option to keep a copy of the information you store in iCloud on your device. Be sure to keep a copy of your essential information so it can stay safe.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. After that, tap on your profile photo. Then scroll down and tap Sign Out. If you’ve turned on Find My iPhone/iPad, you’ll need to enter your Apple ID password to continue.

Next, sign in with your Apple ID and password. Now, check if you finally got rid of the notification.

UPDATE APPLE ID INFORMATION
If your Apple ID information, such as payment details such as credit or debit cards, needs to be updated, your iPhone might bug you with the “Update Apple ID Settings” notification. Try checking your Apple ID payment methods from your iPhone.

Step 1 — Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on your name at the top.

Step 2: Go to Checkout.

Step 3 — If any of your added cards have expired, tap Add payment method and follow the onscreen instructions to add a new payment method.
