Game of Clones is a smart scheduling/motivational app that helps you achieve your goals in a fun and effortless way. If you find it hard to stay motivated and loyal to a plan of action towards your goals and you find yourself constantly entering a loop of procrastination and feeling bad, this app is for you.

There are two basic reasons why Game of Clones is better than any other scheduling/motivation app out there.

First of all, this app knows you! It knows your energy levels, your mood and when and how you can get things done. It tracks your energy levels for a certain period of time and establishes when you have your own biological prime-time during the day, it takes into account your monthly cycle (for the female users) and has logged your mood history so far building your biological and psychological profile. And then you can set all of the other conditions you want as well. The only pre-condition is that you know yourself a little bit, like when you are most likely to do or not do a certain task. For example if the activity you want to get done is to call your parents who live in a different country more often, it schedules this activity taking into account the time difference, your mood, and other conditions you’ve set like needing to be at home for this for example. So you simply put the conditions you think you would need and the app challenges you to do it at the right time when it’s less likely that you won’t feel like it. But even if you decline the challenge, it will automatically reschedule for the next best available slot in your calendar. It also uses GPS to track down your location and your distance to target locations and it suggests optimum ways to manage any task you need to get done during your day.

So by having all that information, it can create the right conditions for your success. Whatever your goal might be, from losing weight to approaching the person you like, and from passing your exams to getting a promotion, Game of Clones has some solid action plan in place, which you can edit to your liking and adjust to your own limitations.

The second reason why it works, is that you can have full agency and supervision of your progress through your clone (avatar). After figuring out your biological and psychological profile you are ready to start creating your avatar. You set your goals and the conditions you want in place and then you get a set of challenges divided in levels for you to take on in order to start accomplishing those goals. By accepting the challenges you can level up and you get some really awesome customization possibilities for your clone. You can then also compete with your friends about who has the coolest avatar and enter the leaderboards by collecting clone-coins from reaching your goals.

Designed as part of the Interaction Design Capstone project for Coursera, it’s not yet fully developed but a lot of attention has been placed so far to design it around the users needs in order to keep them motivated and to minimize procrastination. The main menu consists of setting your Goals, seeing your Challenges, managing your Calendar and checking the status of your Clone. There have been multiple iterations of the prototype based on making the interface as intuitive as possible. The feel that I wanted to achieve is clean, simple and playful. There have been several iterations regarding the concept of it as well as the design, and there might be some more to come while Game of Clones reaches the final stages of the development.
