I love your story. I am an anti princess pink hating grandma. BUT I know that being a princess is a deeply culture bound dream that many, many girls share. And there is only so much one sleep deprived dad, one mom, or grandma can do to effect culture change. One of my favorite memories of one of my nieces was playing “shark princess” with her in the pool. She’d say, “ I am the princess, rescue me” and I would….then “You are the shark….try to get me… and then….”You be the princess and I will save you.” That what childhood is! The opportunity to find out who we want to be moment by moment. And Dad….Be Careful! Parenting is a 20 ft. Cliff!
