AWS Re:Invent 2022 — Keynotes
Here is a little overview of some keynotes that have I participated in while at the event in Las Vegas
AWS re:Invent is one of the largest IT conferences in the world and offers users of all experience levels the opportunity to sharpen their skill sets and learn more about AWS technologies. Attendees have access to keynote announcements, training, certification opportunities, technical sessions, and more. This year, as always, there were after-hours social events for attendees to enjoy. For those who couldn’t make it to Las Vegas, live virtual sessions delivered up-to-date information anywhere in the world and recorded sessions.
It took place from November 28 to December 2 in several different Venues in Las Vegas, the principal venue being The Venetian and others being the Caesars Forum, Encore, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, and Wynn.
Some Important Information:
When scheduling your session, be careful to watch over the places where the sessions will be hosted because even with the sutles available it can take a while for you to arrive on time where you need to be. Some of my colleagues walked over 18 miles each day from session to session. And go with comfortable sneakers.
Some Types of sessions:
- Bootcamps: Designed to expand your understanding of AWS services, and solutions to help prep you for certification.
- Breakout sessions: Organized by experience level and led by AWS experts.
- Chalk Talk: Where the attendees interact more with the presenters offering options, use cases, and insights about the subject
- AWS Builder Labs: where cloudies and devs can experience AWS in a live sandbox environment.
- Workshops: Presenters give a case and some documentation or you to follow on how to solve it.
Important Tips:
- Choose your hotel as closes as possible to The Venetian, and from there will be easier to move anywhere else.
- Book your sessions as soon as possible. I got my Re:Invent ticket a little late and all the sessions interesting to me were not available anymore.
- Use comfortable sneakers. You definitely will walk a lot and probably won’t stay much time seated.
- Watch out for Overflow rooms and sessions where you can wait and enter if there are any available seats.
- Networking. This is one of the main points of the event, there will be people from all over the world, talk to as many as possible because our IT world is very small.
- Keep hydrated, use the Re:Invent bottle that you got in the SWAG and buy it at any pharmacy the Lip repair, mine got all cracked with the cold and dry air.
AWS has the following environmental goals:

GFT in the AWS Re:Invent 2022
GFT had a stand at the event talking a little about GreenCoding.
Green coding is term that has been coined, relatively recently, to refer to programming code that has been produced and written in a way that minimises the energy consumption of software, thereby limiting the potential environmental impact.
The principles of green coding should not be considered in opposition to existing practices. Rather, they should be incorporated into the principles of software engineers to consider when writing and designing code in order to balance functionality and with energy usage.
