Wow, as another expat living in a “fun” country, I really disagree with your point of view.

For me, what is the most surprising, is how happy people can be even though they have very little, and how proud they are of their nation.

I occasionally do social work with poor children who are also HIV+, they have nothing, and every single one of them have told me how much they love their country and how happy they are to belong to this land.

I find it a very humbling experience, that made me see the world in a completely different way.
