Dietary preferences are irrational

One thing that might be worth looking at is the ecological impact of one’s diet. I remember reading that it takes lot more resources to raise an animal for meat than growing plants. Also, animals contribute lot more to global warming.

So, If the same amount of resources produce M amount of meat and V amount of vegetables and if V amount can feed lot more people than M, can that be a criteria in picking one’s diet ?
