Whats happening this weekend ( May 5 — May 7) for queer women of Toronto
As the weather is getting warmer (ok that’s debatable, but at least there is no snow now, so yay!) Toronto is starting to wake up from the winter. There are a LOT of events that are going to be happening in May and even more heading into June, can we say Pride! But for now, here is a list of some of the events we’ve picked for you this weekend!
May 3rd to May 6th @ various start times
To those who don’t know this is a returning Festival in Toronto. They took a 5 year hiatus and are returning this year. When it first began in 1996, it was the world’s first queer performance festival. They are raising money for We’re Funny That Way Foundation to help queer charities across Canada. The comic lineup includes performances by Lea DeLaria, Maggie Cassella, Slanty Eyes Mama, Aastha Lal, Sam Jay and many more.
Tickets for each performance are $20 if you buy in advance and $25 at the door. For a full list of events please visit their website.
May 5th @ 7:30pm
Inside out is Canada’s largest LGBT Film Festival in Canada, so it’s one of the most anticipated festivals for the LGBT community in Toronto. Their launch party is not only in a pretty cool venue (St. James Cathedral Centre) but it's where Inside Out will announce the complete program for the 2017 Toronto LGBT Film Festival. This party is complete with food, drinks and an awesome DJ, so it’s sure to be a hit and one you don’t want to miss!
Suggested donation for entry is $10. Check out their website for more details.
May 5th @ 10:30pm
As always, on the first Friday of the month we have the Cream Dance party at Club 120. If you just feel like dancing to Hip Hop & House music and partying it up with queer women this weekend, this just might be your jam!

May 6th @ 9pm
This is a prelude to the Green Spaces Festival that takes place throughout Pride at the 519. On Saturday the 519 Ballroom will be transformed to fit 3 bars and a dance floor for a kickass House Music dance party! Following suit to all Green Spaces events the vibe at this place is welcoming, friendly and has a great lineup of DJs.
The tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Check out their Facebook Event for more details.
May 7th @ 2pm
And of course it wouldn't feel right if we went a week without a Let’z event, and this week is no exception. We have our monthly Book club. This month we are discussing For Sizakele by Yvonne Fly Onakeme Etaghene and we’re gathering up at Glad Day Bookshop. Come by even if you didn't read the book, we provide a friendly space and will engage in discussion around literature, queer women, and choose our next month's book.
Cost is $2. Check out our website for more details.
