Four Questions For Luc Anthony, an Entrepreneur in EdTech
The desire to become an entrepreneur in Montreal has tripled over the last 10 years, and from November 12 to 16 we are celebrating entrepreneurship all over the world as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2018.
This therefore makes it the perfect opportunity to present 6 passionate, risk-taking entrepreneurs who have begun Le Wagon Montréal’s full-stack program this fall in order to learn to code. They have embraced the challenge to invest in 2 months of intensive learning to acquire a new skillset to empower their entrepreneurial venture with strong technical know-how.
We met with Luc Anthony.
Luc Anthony studied economics at Université de Montréal. He worked in marketing and as a Financial Services Advisor in the bank industry.
Describe your startup, in a nutshell
In 2016, I co-founded Geektactics, a web platform that connects students with a personal mentor to help them during their studies.
Why are you learning to code with Le Wagon?
We own a technology-based company and I am the only “non-tech” co-founder. I wanted to move the business forward and, for that, I needed to acquire more technical skills.
I chose Le Wagon because I like their product-oriented approach, which is exactly what I need.
The knowledge is actually broader than just the technical skills. We also learn about the technical workflow of a startup, which is very valuable.
What benefit does it bring to you as an entrepreneur?
I will no longer have to run after a developer to implement a new feature. I will do it myself.
Your 3 tips for aspiring entrepreneurs?
- Build something people want.
- Do not fall in love with your solution, but …
- … fall in love with your customers’ problem.
