Lewis C. Barbe: Committee Leadership Experience

Board-certified safety engineer and experienced engineering consultant Lewis Barbe has led an impressive and extensive career, both in the field of safety engineering and in the field of consulting. A longtime Accident Prevention and Loss Control professional for several notable firms, Barbe has established a track record for continually high performance and on-the-job excellence, even garnering a National Safety Council award as world-record setting safety professional (Manager of Accident Prevention) for Westinghouse Electric.

Lewis Barbe has been a member of the American National Standards Institute for more than two and a half decades, and is currently a member of more than 40 specific ANSI committees, including, but not limited to, Basic Elements of a Program to Provide a Safe and Healthful Work Environment, Rope Guided and Non-Guided Workers’ Hoists, Reduction of Musculoskeletal Problems in the Construction Industry, Emergency Procedures for Construction Sites, Safety Requirements for the installation of Drilled Shafts, Basic Elements of a Program to Provide a Safe and Healthful Work Environment and more.

Lewis Barbe is not only a member of numerous ANSI committees, he is also the Chairman of five, including the ANSI Hot Mix Asphalt Facilities Committee, the ANSI Safe Operating Practices for Hot Mixed Asphalt Construction Committee, the ANSI Temporary and Portable Space Heating Devices committee, the ANSI Ceramic Tile, Terrazzo and Marble Work Committee and the ANSI Roofing — Safety Requirements for Low Sloped Roofs Committee.

Barbe enjoys membership in such organizations as the National Fire Protection Association and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers.
