For years, I’ve been praying this almost everyday. I’ve even pasted a copy of this prayer on the cover of my laptop. Hoping that I will be reminded whenever I am at war with my pride. The copy may be futile because many times in a day I’d succumbed to the foothold of the evil one — anger coupled with pride.
Being a writer, I see clearer whenever I put my experiences, thoughts and emotions in words. I am sharing this to you who stumbled upon this tiny portfolio of mine and have found this write up. You’re here neither of an accident or a coincidence, you’re reading this because of God’s incidence. He willed that I share this to the world wide web for a great purpose. I believe and I trust that it will help you the way it helped me.
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved… I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being extolled … I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being honored … I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being praised … I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being preferred to others… I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being consulted … I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
From the desire of being approved … I’VE DESIRED FOR THIS
ALL THESE DESIRES BROUGHT ME DISAPPOINTMENT AND FRUSTRATION — UNHEALTHY TO THE SOUL
From the fear of being humiliated … I WAS HUMILIATED
From the fear of being despised… I AM DESPISED
From the fear of suffering rebukes … I’VE SUFFERED REBUKES AND CONTINUE TO SUFFER
From the fear of being calumniated … I WAS CALUMNIATED AND IT CONTINUES
From the fear of being forgotten … MY WORKS WERE FORGOTTEN. I WAS FORGOTTEN
From the fear of being ridiculed … I WAS RIDICULED
From the fear of being wronged … I WAS WRONGED
From the fear of being suspected … I WAS SUSPECTED
That others may be loved more than I… OTHERS WERE INDEED LOVED AND PREFERRED THAN ME
ALL THESE FEARS EMBITTERED ME. UNHEALTHY TO THE MIND AND HEART
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire-
That others may be esteemed more than I … ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
That, in the opinion of the world,
others may increase and I may decrease … ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
That others may be chosen and I set aside … ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
That others may be praised and I unnoticed … ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
That others may be preferred to me in everything… ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should… ONLY BY YOUR GRACE, LORD
BECAUSE ALL THESE DESIRES WILL GIVE ME FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE AND THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE. AMEN!
What a joy to know that God sees and He moves! We only need to let go and wait upon the Lord.
Today, the foothold of the devil is no more! Because God already manifested His greatness through the humblest of hearts — Jesus!
I only need to cry out that powerful name — Jesus! Alleluia!
