The Importance of Artists
Helping us reflect on our emotions throughout history
The Importance of Art:
When we look back at our history we turn our attention towards two main categories, Literature and Art. The literary piece of history gives us the stories, events, and important people that have made significant impacts. However, the Art element brings all of the literary pieces to life.

Why Value Art?:
Artists not only depict events, people, and stories, but they also use current issues and events to highlight the essence of an area. Artwork becomes a close second next to literary pieces to historians. They convey the emotion and culture of a society.

By looking deeper into the paintings, we see the essence of humanity: where we came from, where we are, and where we are going. This all especially applies to the early Artists like Michelangelo, Monte, and Rubens.

Example of Symbolism in Art:
The image above is a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. This painting could be conveying the idea that love and creation of children is what men leave behind when they go off to war. The description of the painting below shows that there is a deeper message to the painting.
“Consequences of War, alternately titled Horrors of War, is one of the earliest activist paintings. It is an allegorical representation of the Thirty Years’ War that Central Europe struggled through from 1618 to 1648. The painting depicts Mars, the god of war, marching from the Temple of Janus while Venus attempts to hold him back.” An article by Sara Barry, describes the paintings history.

Thinking About How Art Changes Us:
Artists like Salvador Dali, really push the mind's ability to understand detailed and complex designs. For example, the painting on the left is more of an optical illusion. Dali does this in order to express many different parts of culture and humanity. Another example can be seen in the painting to the right, this painting pushes the human understanding of the human body. This allows people to question the essence of their Being.
It is very important to have artists push the ‘laws of reality’ and expand our imagination and curiosity of the world.
