An Introduction
The Beginning
My grandmother (Granny, as she’s known to most) lost her voice December 25, 2015. No big deal everyone thought we’ll load the car as usual and spend the day with the family she just will have to write everything down. After three days of no voice and Granny staying in bed for half a day (which never happens) my mom Kim and I decided it was time to go the hospital. The diagnosis being pneumonia. Now you may be thinking whats this got to do with Arnold Chiari Malformation?
Fast Forward…
Fast forward three months. Fast Forward past two hospitalizations. Fast Forward through one of the toughest time in not only my life but in the life of my family and especially my Granny’s. The real reason Granny was sick was due to a malformation she has had her whole life. Arnold Chiari Malformation. Now fast forward to when I am writing this post, why have I started this blog? After the several months of seeing my Granny in the hospital and countless Google searches for this new long word that I now know I found that there are very little personal experiences on the internet.
So my goal for A Way To Conquer is to share mine and my family’s experience with this new journey that we are now on. I also would like to invite others that have family members battling this or they themselves are trying to conquer Arnold Chiari to this blog to communicate and have an online community that can help with their journey. Lastly, for the rest of the world that doesn’t know what Arnold Chiari is or even how to pronounce it (Kee — Ar — E) I want to invite you to ask questions and to learn with me and my family as we continue to conquer one day at a time.
