A Letter to September

Dear September,

I have a lot riding on you
And its nothing you did
Its just the nature of time
Crumbling and shaking

And growing.

I’ve grown fond of my summer memories,
but I am ready for the Fall
Im ready to fall
Over and over
For a chance at something a little more

Just a little more.

More than I currently am
More time that I currently have
Time to claim who I was
And discard the me from my past

She is no longer here.

And with you, she will never be here
As I fall into my safe place,
As I fall into Fall, into new,
Into everything my life has been pointing to

I am ready for the change.

I am ready to take on whatever you have
Preparing for any cruel excuses
September, I’m ready for you.

But,
Are you ready for me?

As I prepare to storm the castle I can only assume
That you, September, have not prepared for the storm.
I’m coming in broken, held together by thin strands of duct tape
But duct tape is strong, resilient.

I am strong and resilient.

And I am not leaving Fall without a new perspective.
September, are you ready for me?

With much love,
-A 20 something chasing dreams
