Alright folks, it’s time to announce something: I’m writing a book about Startup Grind in Barcelona.

I’m tremendously excited about it, because it’s my first professional book.

Obviously, that’s not my typewriter. Mine would be black.

A bit of history

I’ve been asked to do it for a couple of years now. The guys at Editorial Base come to our events regularly and pitched me the idea a couple years ago.

I thought it was a bit too early, and waited for something more special, like the fifth anniversary of Startup Grind in Barcelona.

We started Startup Grind Barcelona in April 2014 officially, and therefore we are turning five on April 2019, which coincides with our third annual Startup Grind Barcelona Conference.

What is it about?

The book will feature 15 cherry-picked interviews of all the events we’ve done in Spanish. In the first two years of Startup Grind in BCN, we hosted our events in Spanish for no particular reason, to be honest.

We’ve agreed to publish the book in Spanish, so readers can refer to the original video of our fireside chat. It wouldn’t have been fair to redirect them to an English interview, if they want to learn more about that particular speaker and/or topic.

It will be available in paper and e-book versions.

Who can you expect to be in the book?

Ferran Martinez, Ana Maiques, Nacho González Barros, Christian Rodriguez Fornos, Carlota Pi Amoros, Helena Torras and a bunch more.

You will learn a lot of concepts of the startup world with each chapter. We’re going from the very very very basics, like finding ideas, finding the right market, building a prototype, to scaling up and expanding internationally or raising capital from VCs — or even selling companies!

Each chapter features a different entrepreneur or investor, and I’m mixing dialogues with a more prosaic approach, thus not directly transcribing the interviews as is, but rather adapting them for better legibility and to give them the time perspective, stripping out unnecessary details and providing extra context where needed.

The book will be presented at the Startup Grind Tech Conference in Barcelona (April, 8–9th).

Alright, back to writing. I must deliver it by January 31st, and there’s still a good deal of work to be done.

Got questions? Ideas? Suggestions? Contact me directly so I can take them into consideration, but time is short!
