Creating our first cultural probes

My process in designing cultural probes for this assignment have drastically changed after our first couple sessions of being on the streets with our probes. At first out goal in designing these probes was too get as much beneficial information as possible out of people. This was done through questionnaires with large sections for people to write. I quickly realized when working with people on the street that this was the wrong approach. People are intimidated by filling out long questionnaires and didn’t want to spend that much time working with someone off the street they didn’t know. Our goal then became to create a less intimidating more fun probe. The prove would have to take very little time to fill in but also give us valuable information. We did this by writing the sentences for people and just leaving out key words for them to fill in. This allowed us to understand key concepts without burdening people to take up too much of there time.
