I don’t get Gordon’s response as to why this article caused confusion.
Both articles are great, stick to experienced truths and advice that is valid for a lot, if not most, situations a developer faces. 
As I see it, you give a concise list of bullet points expressing where the problem sometimes arises when commiting blindly or over commiting to something. Godrdon delves deaper into the reasons for these interactions, processes or practices. 
Both articles hold interesting insights and I’d even dare say Gordon sometimes goes for straw man arguments ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man ) and thats why the confusion arose.

Any how, good article.
