Barbiecore Galore
With Barbie’s marketing team running on full speed to promote the long-awaited Barbie movie, there’s been release after release of several unexpected collaborations. Here’s some of my favorites!
1. Barbie X Ruggables
My absolute favorite. This collaboration is made for those who grew up longing for their own Dreamhouse but would like to incorporate that vision in a more sophisticated way. Now, every house can have a little Barbie Dreamhouse magic!
2. Barbie X Airbnb
Can you imagine waking up in the Barbie Dreamhouse in Malibu? Because now you can! While Barbie’s off saving the world, Ken is listing his room on Airbnb. Two lucky guests will be invited to stay in the newly revamped Malibu Dreamhouse in all its Kendom glory.
3. Barbie X NYX Cosmetics
A blast from the past with the quintessential flip phone. These designs were amazingly well thought out. A quick run through of the items gives you a definite sense of nostalgia.
The world will soon be running out of pink. From experiential activations to product collaborations, Barbie has leveraged an incredibly amount of earned media, with over 6 million engagements across social media in the past 6 months just for its memes (NewsWhip, 2023).
I’m so excited for the movie, July 21st can’t come any sooner!
