Too Much Ego; Not Enough Passion

We’re a funny generation, that much I know. We live in the best era of human life ever — that’s just how it is — and yet, we still find so much space for negative focus and unproductive energy. It’s a wide and wonderful world, there’s no questioning that. But holy fuck… there’s just so much ego.

Just look around you. It’s everywhere you go.

People are more concerned with fueling the fire of their ego and self-importance. They see more happiness in putting on a front and portraying false realities than they do in spreading a genuine message of truth and kindness. And that fucking hurts me.

We’re all humans in the end. Kindness and love are all we have.

Can Ego Be Good?

Yes. And no.

If you look up the definition of ego, you’ll find that the world ‘self-esteem’ is used to describe it. But for me, they’re two totally different things. Not necessarily in literal terms, but definitely in the way they’re explored and practiced.

Ego is what fuels global assholism. Yes, that is a made-up word. And no, it doesn’t translate to the excessive consumption of ass. Assholism is a term I’ve just made up, and it’s the state of permanently being — or temporarily becoming — an asshole. Ego is what feeds this.

Self-esteem is different. Self-esteem is knowing who you are, what you are, and what you were put on this earth to do. It’s knowing that you’re enough — whatever that may mean to you. It’s knowing that you are able to taste defeat and still push on.

In essence, self-esteem is the key to success.

Fronting Vs Knowing

For me, that’s the difference between ego and self-esteem.

Ego is a bullshit front. It’s the people you see every day on social media uploading pictures of fancy cars that they’ve rented for the weekend. It’s the smiles and heart emojis that you see couples posting on each other’s timelines. It’s the falsity you see from people in interviews or in videos when they’re speaking words they don’t truly mean.

Ego is all of these things. And the world is fucking full of it.

Self-esteem, on the other hand, is the ultimate superpower. Self-esteem is knowing your worth and your purpose. It’s living life based on depth and legacy rather than width and finances.

Ego is fantasy. Self-esteem is reality.

Check Yourself

Before you wreck yourself. Ch-chiggidy check yourself, before you wre…

Sorry…

But seriously, you need to first learn the difference, and once you have, you need to ensure that you’re moving through life in a way that’s genuine and true to you. If you aren’t, you’re faking it. And if you’re faking it, you’re being an egotistical bullshit artist.

And trust me, the world already has too many of those…

Let this inspire you to make a change. Please stop soul-searching externally. You’ll never find yourself if you don’t take your head out of society’s shit-stained ass.

Clap-Clap

If this article brought you any sort of value — even if it was just a single sentence — please leave a some applause. It would mean a lot to me. Like a lot-lot.
