Wonderful to read about these women! When I first arrived in Seattle, lonely and scared, I spent a lot of time reading about these actresses, as well as Eleanora Duse (The Mystic in the Theatre,) and Julia Marlowe, another actress who headed her own touring company. Their stories provided great inspiration and pulled me out of my depression. In 1986-ish in NYC, when women were only allowed to enter the Player's Club on Shakespeare's birthday, I was so pleased to see Julia Marlowe's photo there.
