What We Learned in the First 30 Days
It’s our first-month anniversary at LiBeiroot, and we’d like to share our thoughts with our community. It’s fun to look back even beyond day one (the launching date) to the many weeks before, when LiBeiroot was a newborn idea.
Start Simple
When we started working on LiBeiroot “project”, we were so excited. We used to brainstorm for hours. We wanted to create an app that is perfect in every aspect. When we completed the workflow diagrams and the app mock-ups, we were so proud. To our disappointment, however, our Bay Area advisor thought that our Minimal Viable Product was too complicated and not minimal. He advised us to take a step back and create a very simple app that looks very elegant and user-friendly. He wanted us to be up and running as fast as possible then to continue advancing our app with new features based on the real demand of our users, not based on our assumptions of what our users would like.
Our users are Amazing
We followed the advice, but we got really stressed when the launch time approached. We felt that the app was just too simple. We were so relieved when the feedback after the launch was overwhelmingly positive because the app is very user-friendly. Instead of criticizing the app for missing features, people nicely suggested things we could add or do.

Drivers also were surprisingly supportive. They accepted to take hard trip requests from remote areas or at really inconvenient times for the same prices they usually charge for typical trips because they wanted LiBeiroot to succeed.
Launching in such a collaborative and supportive environment was key to our successful start; and we are truly humbled about it.

Set Realistic Goals
For the first 30 days we had two goals; we achieved one and missed the other. We achieved a 5-star rating from every customer we served. We are exceptionally proud because our clients were from diverse backgrounds: doctors, college students, professionals and even some elderlies. Unfortunately, we have missed our sales target for the number of trip requests we should have fulfilled in the first month. We’re getting to understand how hard it is to acquire a customer. We’re working exceptionally hard to open new marketing channels, and we’re optimistic that the word-of-mouth of our happy customers will help.
All in all, we’re so thrilled that we’re getting to listen to what clients want in order to develop the next version of our app. It’s our top goal to maintain this feedback loop and establish ourselves as a truly client-centered startup.
Happy 30 days anniversary :)
