Introducing SimScale’s Founders
SimScale was founded in 2012 by David Heiny, Vincenz Dölle, Johannes Probst, Alex Fischer and Anatol Dammer.
The five founders initially considered building a simulation consultancy together and it was through evolving this idea that the foundations for SimScale arose. In 2011, when cloud-computing was not as mainstream as it is today, they had the idea to create a simulation platform, which allows every engineer in the world to get access to simulation software via their browsers. This vision is the underpinning of our company today. Our founders are still involved in the company, albeit in vastly different roles to when they started, as the team has grown from 5 student friends into a well-known cloud-based simulation software company.

David Heiny
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, as well as a Master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Now the CEO at SimScale, David is engaged in company strategy, supporting the team to decide on the correct paths for the future, and building our growing team. David enjoys contributing towards our customers’ journey, knowing our software is aiding designers world-wide to improve their products. Seeing our customers developing fascinating and innovative products is what drives him on a daily basis.
In his free time, David enjoys spending time with his family and has even tougher ambitions by always trying to meet the goals of his two daughters.
