Ivy Lee was a garbage fire of a human being. He covered up the Ludlow massacre, he stumped for big tobacco, he worked for meatpackers whose inhumane treatment of their workers was documented by Upton Sinclair in The Jungle, he successfully lobbied the federal government to give unneeded aid to monopoly railroads, and he helped big companies screw over their employees. What a great guy!

Oh, and Bethlehem Steel? First of all, he met the CEO in 1918, not “the early 1900s” (just laziness on your part, I guess). Secondly, you completely forgot to mention how arch-dick Frederick Taylor also “modernized” the company with new gee-whiz productivity tips in 1898. Third, the company’s iron came primarily from Cuba which had just been illegally invaded and conquered by the USA. Fourth, the company’s entire profit structure came from government contracts. Real free-market capitalism at work, folks!

And last, but definitely not least, despite all this “great advice” from geniuses like Ivy Lee and Frederick Taylor, I am happy to report that Bethlehem Steel went bankrupt and no longer exists. Unfortunately, before doing so, they screwed all of their workers out of their pensions.

NOW GO BE PRODUCTIVE!!!
