How to Get Massive Traffic from Twitter in 2017

Finding traffic for your website is a nerve wrecking task, especially finding free traffic. As you may already know I love using social media as a great source for free traffic. In this blog post I am going to be talking to you about getting free traffic from twitter. I am going to break down the entire strategy into three main parts:

  • Creating & Setting up Your Account
  • Growing Your Following
  • Engaging with Popular Content

These are the 3 steps you need to follow in order to start seeing massive traffic from twitter.com

Step 1 — Creating Your Twitter Account

We need to make sure that this part is setup correctly. Don’t move on to the next steps until you have properly executed this first step. When you create your account, you want to make sure you add as much information as possible.

Twitter Handle — You want to make sure that you create a great twitter handle. This is what people use to find you and tag you in their tweets. I won’t go into super detail, but make sure that your twitter handle relates to the niche you are in. This article goes into detail on how to choose your name. http://socialmarketingwriting.com/6-tips-to-choosing-the-perfect-twitter-name/

Profile Image — Setup your profile image for goodness sakes! Don’t be one of those egg heads. If you are creating a personal account make sure you take a high-quality photo of yourself. If you are a website then make sure to design a great photo that incorporates your logo. Just make sure you use a good photo.

Banner Photo — This one is super simple. Have someone else do it for you. Go to fiverr.com, purchase a gig, and be done with it. You don’t want to stress over this part, but at least have something as your banner photo.

Bio Description — Keep your bio short and sweet. Throw in some key words and make sure you let your audience know exactly what it is that you do.

Website — Twitter gives you a field just for your website url. Use it! Now don’t worry. This isn’t like Instagram and it won’t be the only link you can have. Just use your main website url for this spot.

Step 2 — Growing your following

Growing your following is actually not that hard to explain.

First, make sure that you tweet out great content. I would recommend to do at least one tweet a day. If you don’t know what to tweet then I recommend you check out my post, How to Create A Free Social Media Manager. This walks you through setting up 2 different accounts that actually post engaging content to your social media sites. ALL FOR FREE.

Secondly, you just need to let people know you exist by connecting with them. Like and retweet posts that are made by people in your niche. Also, a great way to gain followers is by following the followers of accounts that have a ton of followers in your niche.

An easy way to do this is by using tweepi.com. This website allows you to follow followers. The great part is you can actually set criteria so you only follow people you know are real. Check out this image. See how I set the criteria to only show me people that follow Tai Lopez, speak English, have tweeted in the last 7 days, and have less than 2500 followers.

Another great thing about this website is that they actually give you a meter to let you know when you are getting close to being spammy. This is useful so you don’t get blocked by twitter.

One last trick for this is to download the tweepi chrome extension. This allows you to follow every user on the page all at once, so you don’t have to click follow for each person.

You want to make sure that you grow your following, so when we move on to the next step we won’t seem like a newbie account. I recommend reaching 1,000 followers before moving to step 3. You can definitely accomplish this within a week.

Step 3 — Joining Conversations and Engaging

This is where the magic happens. Now that we have setup a super awesome account that shares great content, we are ready to roll.

The first step is to do some research and find some popular conversations that are happening in our niche. The way we do this is by going to hashtagify.me and put type in a hashtag that we think will be relevant to us. Hastagify.me will tell you the hashtags popularity as well as show you the most recent tweets using that hashtag.

What you want to do is respond to the most popular tweets by giving some good feedback as well as helpful information. At the end of each response make sure to drop a link to your website. The best practice is to use url shorteners like bit.ly so that you don’t eat up too many of your precious characters. Do this enough times and you will start to see floods of traffic roll in from twitter. Again, do not be spammy!
