You have a few questions, and that’s to be expected. After all, there has never been anything like liftUPlift. No need to worry! Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know before opening your store:

1) WE WANT YOU TO REQUEST AN INVITE

If you are a woman business owner, and you’d like to open a liftUPlift store, don’t wait for the alliance to spread to your corner of the world — make it happen! Check that your business meets our basic requirements (#5), then request an invitation. You’ll receive your invite shortly! Once you setup your store, start inviting women entrepreneurs in your community, and help us ally women, globally!

2) WE WANT YOU

The most common question we are asked is, “What kind of woman-owned businesses can open liftUPlift stores?”

We want to give people the option to shop from women from every purchase they make. Our alliance welcomes woman-owned businesses selling everything from soap to software to services. If you can sell your product on Amazon, Etsy or Groupon, you can sell it on liftUPlift (and take a stand against sexual violence, while you’re at it).

3) IT FEELS LIKE HOME

This is the first e-commerce marketplace built by women, for women. We know there are countless demands on your time and energy, so we made it fast and easy to setup shop! How’s that for an unprecedented concept? ;)

4) NO COST TO LIST ITEMS OR SETUP SHOP

We’re in this to empower you, not profit off of you. You pledge a small percentage of each transaction to liftUPlift, so we make money only when you make a sale.

5) YOU PLEDGE 3% OF TRANSACTIONS TO COMBAT SEXUAL VIOLENCE

This is the first e-commerce platform to power a non-profit organization. The cost of selling on liftUPlift is lower than the standard online marketplace, and by selling here, you fund our mission to combat sexual violence. It’s a no-brainer!

6) OUR STRONGEST ALLIES JOIN THE MAKER ALLIANCE

Pledge an additional 2% of annual transactions to join the liftUPlift Maker Alliance. Shoppers earn point rewards for items purchased from members of the Maker Alliance, so your store name and items will be highlighted by a Maker Alliance badge wherever they appear on site.

7) VIP’S JOIN THE FOUNDING MAKER ALLIANCE, FOR FREE

These stores will open with us on the day we launch, by special invitation only. If invited, you receive FREE membership in the Maker Alliance, for your first year. Your store name and items will feature a Gold badge, because shoppers earn double rewards for shopping from members of the Founding Maker Alliance!

8) THE INVITE POLICY EMPOWERS YOU TO BRING YOUR ALLIES

When creating liftUPlift, we encountered two challenges: 1) How to verify whether a business was, in fact, woman-owned. 2) How to find woman-owned businesses when no international directory exists. Invitations are our solution, at least for now. We discovered that every woman business owner we met was able to refer us to at least three others. and we realized that empowering store owners to extend invitations is the fastest and most reliable way to build our alliance.

9) TO OPEN A STORE, YOUR BUSINESS MUST MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS:

1) 50% of ownership is female; 2) You must be the owner of the business or her authorized representative. 3) Business owner must have a liftUPlift user account and connect it to her store. 4) Fulfill orders via delivery or digital download.

10) THIS MARKETPLACE IS NON-TOXIC

The mainstream marketplace, outside of liftUPlift, is polluted with products that poison our families, messages that undermine our girls, and images that objectify or misrepresent us. liftUPlift creates a non-toxic culture where women can shop for non-toxic goods.
