Think back to the euphoric moments you’ve experienced in your life. Did many of them involve a crowd? Maybe you were raving until sunrise, celebrating your favorite sports team’s championship win, attending Comic-Con for the very first time, or marching for a cause you support alongside millions of passionate individuals. These moments are special to us because they fulfill our human need for interconnection and belonging. Collective effervescence is a real thing — it’s that glowy, giddy feeling where your sense of self slackens, yielding to a connection with your fellow, synchronized humans.

Attending live events is one of our favorites things to do, but despite the connections you build while there, how many people attend live events without a companion? We have gone to a few concerts alone in our lives, but we can tell you that it is a much better experience when you can share it with someone you love.

If the experiences are meant to be shared why is the planning process to attend these events innately asynchronous? Sending links and screenshots to your friends while you try to determine the best seats to sit in, how much money to spend, etc. is time consuming and impersonal. Beyond that, if they don’t respond to your messages quick enough, you run the risk of someone else grabbing those tickets and missing out on what you really wanted! Wouldn’t it be better if you could shop for and select your tickets together, in real-time? This is one of the many reasons we built lightbeam 😊

lightbeam allows you to live broadcast your phone in a private chat. It turns your mobile experiences into shared mobile experiences. lightbeam has an incredibly interactive user interface and allows you to cast your screen and audio to your friends while subsequently collaborating with them over text, audio, or video. On top of more traditional digital communication channels, we have also built in the ability for you to communicate through annotations as well — it’s almost like digital body language. Check out the video below to see how lightbeam works.

This is not just an app for collaborating on event tickets though, it is an app for collaborating in every part of your mobile life. People are spending upwards of 5 hours a day on their smartphones and due to the nature of those 6-inch screens, this is mostly alone time. We want to reduce digital isolation and allow you to loop your friends into your digital life. With lightbeam, you can watch your favorite YouTube videos with friends, jam an album together on Spotify, or do something more productive like book your next group Airbnb together!! If you are anything like us, we think you will agree that most things in life are better when they are shared 😊 Check us out at www.lightbeam.app!
